Sultan in 1928. The lumber mill of the McNaught Lumber Co. was moved to Sultan in 1928 from the south end of Borden or Loon Lake. It was then known as the Wakami Lumber Co., a subsidiary of the Austin and Nicholson Lumber Co. In 1930 it seased operations with a yard full of lumber which it could not sell because of the depression. It resumed operations again in 1932.
